Whistle While You Work: Bloody Disgusting Will Keep You Going for Over 90 Hours!

I don't know about you, but when I'm reading horror, writing horror or even just want to dream horror, I throw on my favorite soundtracks, be it Re-Animator or The Omen, and have myself a good old time. Obviously the guys over at Bloody-Disgusting feel the same way, so they've compiled a massive 90+ hour Spotify playlist full of all your favorites?

Whether you want to take a trip down memory lane with your favorite themes, or just put it on shuffle and create a fun little guessing game, this playlist is pretty much a must have for horror fans. Head below and check it out, and thank BD's John Marrone for the ear candy!

The Infection Takes Final Hold this October with V/H/S VIRAL

I was a big fan of the first two V/H/S films, I was very excited to see a new anthology film take hold of the modern horror crowd as I've always been a big fan of Creepshow. While there were a lot of mixed emotions regarding V/H/S/2, I thought it was a superior film to the first one and that's pretty rare for sequels. Now, Bloody-Disgusting and Magnet Releasing are gearing up to give us the final installment in the found-footage/anthology trilogy, and it's been thusly dubbed V/H/S Viral

While plot details are thin, the central plot "follows fame-obsessed teens who unwittingly become stars of the next internet sensation." I suppose you could say that's a bit of a given, what with the title of this entry.

Slated for release on VOD platforms October 23, 2014 (and a theatrical roll-out on November 21st), the final installment will feature shorts from Marcel Sarmiento (Deadgirl), Nacho Vigalondo (Extraterrestrial), Gregg Bishop (Dance of the Dead) and Todd Lincoln (The Apparition).

In terms of on-screen talent, we'll be seeing the likes of Blair Redford (The Day the Earth Stood Still), Amanda Baker (Lizzie) and Jessica Serfaty (Bat Romance).

It's Official - MTV Moves Forward With SCREAM Series

Sigh. It's official.

MTV has made an announcement that they are officially moving forward with the Scream series. BD released the plot details this morning, as well as the news that Wes Craven will be directing the pilot this summer. The script was written by Jill Blotevogel.

The pilot explores a YouTube video that has gone viral and causes problems for the protagonist, Audrey, who is caught in the middle of murder and the town’s troubled past.

I've been fearing that this news would rear it's ugly head at some time or another, and I can't help but feel incredibly disappointed by it. After the fans have been clamoring for months in hopes of getting a Scream 5 as opposed to a series (on MTV, of all stations), it appears that our pleas have fallen on deaf (Weinstein) ears. Thanks for that.

If you're a fan of Scream and you've watched an episode of Teen Wolf, or even seen a commercial, then you can understand my disappointment with this news. To place such an important horror property into the hands of a network that excels at tearing anything resembling credibility to shreds is very scary. Not to mention that a Scream production is hardly a Scream production without Sydney Prescott, Wes Craven or not.

We'll just have to wait and see, but I'm scared guys. I'm scared.

HORROR NEWS: Gene Jones and AJ Bowen Team Up Again In DEMENTIA

One of most anticipated films of this year has to be Ti Wests follow up to 2011's The Innkeepers, the cult based faux-documentary The Sacrament. The flick stars Gene Jones and AJ Bowen, and news broke yesterday that they've both been tapped for Boulderlight Pictures' new flick, Dementia.

Bloody Disgusting reported yesterday that Mike Testin (cinematographer of Contracted) will direct the flick, which has been described as a mix of Misery (yes!) and What Ever Happened to Baby Jane (YES!). Two of my absolute favorites, especially the latter (which seems to get NO love). The film will be about "an elderly war veteran who is forced by his estranged family to hire a live-in nurse after finding out he has been diagnosed with Dementia, only to find that she harbors a sinister secret.

As already mentioned, Gene Jones (No Country for Old Men) and AJ Bowen (You're Next, The House of the Devil) will star with Kristina Klebe (Rob Zombie's Halloween), Marc Senter (The Lost) and Hassie Harrison in a script penned by Meredith Berg (Blood List).

V/H/S/2 (2013) - A Review

Boy, am I ever late to the train on this one. Regardless, here it is and I’m glad to be reviewing it.

I’ve also realized that I have not posted a review since Gravity, and that breaks my little heart. The past few weeks have been rough but I am very excited to be getting back into it. Once I get a new laptop (which should hopefully be very soon) you guys will be getting too much of me, so I bet you’re just so excited about that as well.

Regardless, enough yammering, I am even boring myself. Here we GO.

Last year, was a big year in the world of horror anthologies. Not only did we get ABC’s of Death (review), we got my personal favorite of the year, V/H/S. Produced by Brad Miska and directed, written and starring the newest up and comers in the world of horror, the Mumblegore Crew, it is a fantastic found-footage film that chronicles 5 stories of death and desperation. I loved it, and was naturally very excited when it was announced that a follow up to the film would be released in 2013. I’ll admit, I was very late to the game in seeing this one. Due to a mixture of a faulty computer set up and a bunked up schedule that did not allow me to catch any screenings of it, I was finally able to settle in for a viewing when it was released on Netflix earlier this week.

You heard that right. In the true tradition of keeping things awesome, Evan Dickson over at Bloody Disgusting will be hosting a Friday the 13th marathon at the Aero Theater in Santa Monica. And on what date might this fall on you, you may be asking yourself? Well, Friday, September the 13th of course.

Tickets are $13 and can be purchase early, here. I will definitely be doing everything within in my power to get there, the event kicks off at 5 PM in the street outside of the theater. There will be food trucks, costume contests (dress up as your favorite franchise character! I've got a mean Pamela Voorhees I've been raring to bust out) and all kinds of nasty fun stuff going on. PLUS there may be a few special guests making the rounds throughout the night.

So come one out and support your local horror scene! It's gonna be groovy.

AJ Bowen and Sharni Vinson Dish on The Horror (and The Humor) of YOU'RE NEXT!

Bloody Disgusting's Evan Dickson posted this awesome interview with You're Next's AJ Bowen and Sharni Vinson yesterday and it's pretty awesome! Sharni dishes on being the strong and Australian Erin, while AJ dishes on injecting a little humor of into the horror. Dig in, and make sure you head out to your local theater to see You're Next this FRIDAY (Thursday night if you're lucky)!

When a gang of masked, ax-wielding murderers descend upon the Davison family reunion, the hapless victims seem trapped…until an unlikely guest of the family proves to be the most talented killer of all.”
