AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW Rolls Out First Full Length Trailer

FX's American Horror Story: Freak Show has rolled out a full length trailer where we can finally see the cast in their respective roles. Ryan Murphy also released a synopsis for the premiere episode, entitled "Monsters Among Us":
One of the only surviving sideshows in the country struggles to stay in business during the dawning era of television. When police make a terrifying discovery at a local farmhouse, the eccentric purveyor of the freak show sees an opportunity that will lead her troupe either to their salvation or ruin.
While I find AHS to be pretty polarizing, I was a huge fan of season two: Asylum. The last season was a little underwhelming but I get a feeling this next season might be right up my alley again. Who knows, maybe the shows runs in even numbers?

HORROR ON TV: Gooble Gobble Gooble Gobble, AMERICAN HORROR STORY Names Fourth Season - FREAKSHOW

Last week it was let loose that the fourth season of the anthology based American Horror Story would take place at, somewhat of a, carnival and would be set in the 1950's. Well, yesterday Ryan Murphy made it official with the announcement of the title: American Horror Story: Freak Show

Murphy also divulged a few plot points, not much (in true AHS fashion) but enough to get fans salivating. Set in Florida in 1950, Jessica Lange will return as a German expatriate as the manager of the last standing freak show in the US. AHS regulars Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Frances Conroy as well as season 3 (Coven) players Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett will comprise her merry group of freaks that Lange has rescued. The season will follow their exploits as they "do anything to keep their business around".

There is no reason in denying that I did not watch this past season. It help little to no appeal to me, as it was quite obviously tailored toward the female demographic. While there's nothing wrong with that, I simply prefer the grimy approach that season two's Asylum delivered. I'm hoping that this may be the format of the show, as season one was quite tailored for the ladies, perhaps the boys will get some nasty violence in even numbered seasons?

I'll be keeping you posted as more news trickles down the line, and as I'm sure you can already pre-meditate, American Horror Story: Freak Show will return in time for the Halloween season.

HORROR ON TV: New AMERICAN HORROR STORY Poster Slithers Out of FX

The news keeps on pouring in from the camp of American Horror Story: Coven. While the stream of teasers is lot less heavy than last years, we just got a new poster. It's very apparent that this season will be very female centric, which could be good, or it could very well lead to another True Blood-ish tail spin into awkward teenage angst like the first season did. Only time will tell.

Here's FX's official synopsis:

"American Horror Story: Coven tells the secret history of witches and witchcraft in America. Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way."

Sound off! What do you think about the new AHS: Coven poster?

Horror on TV: Details Emerge for AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN

Believe it or not, summer is about to come to a close (Labor Day looms, but a month away) and for fans of horror based TV, that means the return of FX's American Horror Story. From the get-go I was extremely excited about this show, the trailers promised everything I would love about a horror based television show, and it was everything I wanted in horror-tv. Alteast for the first half of the season. However, the second season completely renewed by faith in the series, and I am anxiously awaiting its return in late September.

For those of you who may not be familiar, the series has an interesting format. Each season presents a new story, new characters, new environments and new settings, however, retaining much of the same cast. It's pretty cool, and it worked really well with this last season. This season they will be bringing back cast members from season 2, some from season 1 and some new ones that I think will really nail it this year.

Aside from the fact that I am already a fan of the series, this season is going to be based in and around my favorite city, and some of my favorite folk-lore of all time: New Orleans, and it's voodoo background. (In case you aren't picking up on it, this is wet-dream fodder for me).

Some casting details have emerged for American Horror Story: Coven, which will follow the story of witches throughout time, based in quaint 'ol New Orleans.

Jessica Lange, the recurring star of AHS, will be playing a witch named Fiona. She has remarked in interviews that the show will take place in several different eras, so we will be seeing a lot of different stories. This sounds like it will be similar to last years AHS: Asylum.

Sarah Paulson, one of my favorites from last year, will be playing Lange's daughter, Cordelia.

I'm very excited about this one, the amazing Kathy Bates will be joining the AHS cast this year and she will be playing Madame Delphine LaLaurie a wealthy 19th century Louisiana-born socialite/serial killer who was known for the torture and murder of her slaves. Her story is that of legend in New Orleans. Look it up, it's plenty interesting.

The most exciting bit of casting new for me is that of Angela Bassett being cast as none other than Marie Laveau, the Voodoo Queen. Laveau is probably the most legendary figure to come out of New Orleans, a figure of mythology and huge historical impact, you can still visit her grave-site (which has become a sort of shrine) in the Big Easy.

I cannot wait for this season, it promises to be pure magic (teehee, no pun intended). For you AHS fans, also plan on seeing Frances Conroy, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga and Lily Rabe return to the screen as well as new comer Gabourey Sidibe (Precious).

HORROR ON TV: Poster Released for "American Horror Story: Coven"

The hit television series American Horror Story has made an amazingly strong impact over the past two years. I fell in love with the concept when I first heard it, loved the first of the first season, hated the second half, but my faith was renewed with American Horror Story: Asylum, the second season.

For those that do not know, American Horror Story is constructed in a peculiar format. Each season is a whole new story, in a whole new place, with whole new characters BUT with the same cast (at least most of it anyway).

Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, among others will be returning to this season in American Horror Story: Coven with new comer Kathy Bates and first season veteran Taissa Farmiga. I don’t think it needs any explanation, but just in case, this season will be centered around witchcraft. Without any further ado, here’s the poster for the new season and I am all about it.
